Philip Flood was born in Belfast and, after completing a degree in music at Queen’s University, moved to London in 1986 where he studied with Robert Saxton and Simon Emmerson.
Paul Flynn is from Lucan, Co. Dublin. In 2000 he graduated with a BA in music from Trinity College Dublin, specialising in composition with Kevin O’Connell and Donnacha Dennehy.

Stephen Gardner was born in Belfast. He studied at the universities of Ulster and Wales from 1984 to 1989.
Bernard Geary was born in Cork. He has lived in Dublin since 1970, working as a teacher, composer and pianist.
Pianist and composer John Gibson was born in Dublin in 1951. He studied piano with Rhona Marshall, and became a theory teacher at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

An Irish composer is defined as anyone who was born or is permanently resident in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.
