Governance
The Contemporary Music Centre is governed by a board of directors with the overall management of the centre being carried out by the Executive Director. CMC’s Board of Directors maintains close contact with the executive and energetically contributes to the centre’s strategic development. The Board of Directors encompasses a range of skills and expertise including legal, professional composition, music promotion & community music, third level music education, professional performance and academia. Given CMC’s all-Ireland remit and ethos, board members are based in different regions across the island of Ireland.
The board of the Contemporary Music Centre ensures operational and organisational excellence, through the sustainability and continual development of staffing, governance, building, financial matters and resources to achieve the Centre’s goals.

The Contemporary Music Centre is registered with the Charities Regulator. The Contemporary Music Centre is committed to good governance and has embarked upon the journey of compliance with the Charities Governance Code.
Contemporary Music Centre keeps detailed records of accounts and maintains strict financial controls. The organisation is transparent in its audited financial statements, with most recent statements available below. The Statement of Recommended Practice for charities and not-for-profit entities as developed in the UK in 2005 (SORP) is currently accepted as best practice in Ireland and CMC has implemented this practice since April 2016.

CMC statement on freedom of artistic expression
CMC is a registered charity (CHY 8791 & CRA 20022020) whose charitable purposes include stimulating interest in contemporary music from Ireland and supporting the work of artists active in New Music. One of CMC's core values is that of artistic freedom of expression and we do not mediate or advise artists in relation to choices they make on any matter whether political, artistic or otherwise. CMC supports artists' right to freedom of expression which is fundamental to their role as agents of change in society. Views expressed by artists working with CMC across our activities should not be considered the views of the Centre.
