• All orders (including orders for digital products) take between 5 and 10 business days to be processed.

Rush

The title track Rush, for violin and live electronics, is a groundbreaking piece featuring the Wired Ensemble and violinist Darragh Morgan. It was premiered in 2004 at the Sonorities Festival and was subsequently shortlisted for a British Composer Award. Among the several other tracks scored for violin and electronics is Lyons’ most recent work Ballintrillick which is a series of sonic responses to poems by Tom Morgan, whose titles and content refer to an area in Sligo where he spends much of his time.

Leading Irish harpist Cliona Doris performs works for concert harp by a number of the country's foremost composers, including Deirdre McKay, John Buckley, Philip Hammond and Michael Alcorn. Taking the title track from Deirdre McKay's work, the disc demonstrates a wide array of musical styles and approaches to the instrument, tackled with artistry and beguiling technical skill by the performer.

This double CD, released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of music-theatre company Operating Theatre, features music by composer Roger Doyle. The company was founded by Roger Doyle and performer Olwen Fouéré and the music on the CD celebrates the first phase of Operating Theatre, from 1981 to 1988, during which the company operated as both a theatre company, integrating music as an equal partner in the theatrical environment, and as a band releasing records.

Begun in 1996, completed in 2003 and revised in 2006, this disc of composer Benjamin Dwyer's twelve guitar études marks the culmination of twelve years of exploration and experiment by the composer. Arranged into four books each dedicated to a different person, the études are performed by the composer.

Hunshigo

‘Hunshigo’ is the title track from Simon Mawhinney’s newest release of world premiere recordings, featuring Darragh Morgan on violin and Mary Dullea on piano. Also on the CD are ‘Batu’ for piano and ‘Barcode III’ for violin. Michael Finnissy notes in his introduction to this CD that Simon Mawhinney's music is characterised by "a balance of mysterious other-worldly stillness and lavish ebullience of texture".

Cool Steel Army

‘Cool Steel Army’ is the title track of Roger Doyle's latest CD release. The disc features recordings of three new works by Doyle and includes ‘Adolf Gebler, Clarinettist’, the first in a series of planned 'cinema for the ear' projects. Scored for live orchestra, piano and female singer, with pre-recorded dialogue and sound effects, the work gives the listener the impression they are present at the screening of a film.

Victory: Ultima Rerum

Ultima Rerum, a requiem cantata for soloists, choirs and symphony orchestra, was written by Gerard Victory between 1975 and 1981. This 95-minute work is performed by Virginia Kerr (soprano), Bernadette Greevy (mezzo-soprano), Adrian Thompson (tenor), Alan Opie (baritone), with the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir and Cór na nÓg, the National Chamber Choir, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, conductor Colman Pearce.
