Visiting the CMC Library

The CMC Library contains a collection of over 9,000 works by over 220 composers from Ireland. It is the only significant archive of its kind, and it represents a valuable resource for anyone interested in music on the island of Ireland. The majority of CMC Library holdings, including physical and digital sheet music, recordings and ephemera, may be consulted in the CMC Library at 19 Fishamble Street, Dublin 8.

Your Visit

CMC warmly welcomes performers, creative artists, scholars, researchers, and all interested members of the public to visit the Library. Please note, CMC Library visits are by appointment, and must be made in advance. Onsite appointments of up to two hours can be reserved using CMC’s booking system (below). A Music Information Coordinator will be on hand to assist you during your visit. When booking, it's very helpful if you can let us know what kinds of materials you are interested in consulting.

Access to the Library

The CMC Library is located on the first floor of the Contemporary Music Centre. The front entrance to the Centre has five stone steps leading to the front door. Please press the buzzer to alert our team of your arrival. The Library is accessed by carpeted stairs (20 steps).

Step-free Access

Step-free and wheelchair accessible visits are facilitated on the ground floor of the CMC building in CMC's Creative Space. Step-free access to the Creative Space is through the wooden exterior gate on Fishamble Street, next door to the front door of the Centre. Through the gate, is a wheelchair accessible ramp leading to the side entrance door of the Centre.

The CMC Creative Space contains a baby grand piano and desk space. Library materials, including ephemera and recordings will be brought to the Creative Space by a CMC Music Information Coordinator. CMC is equipped with an accessible, independent-use W/C toilet on the ground floor. There is no hoist facility available. Please let us know in advance if you need to work on the ground floor.
