Irish composer Ciarán Farrell was born in Dublin, Ireland, and graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1997.

Eibhlis Farrell is from Rostrevor in Co. Down and studied composition with Raymond Warren, Charles Wuorinen and Robert Moevs.

David Fennessy was born in Maynooth, Co Kildare. He began his musical studies at the DIT Conservatory of Music, studying guitar with John Feeley and composition with Eibhlis Farrell.

Howard Ferguson was born in Belfast in 1908. At the Royal College of Music, London, he studied piano with R. O. Morris and conducting with Sir Malcom Sargent and later studied with Harold Samuel.

Sinéad Finegan completed an M. Phil in Music and Media Technology from Trinity College, Dublin in 2011.

Claire Fitch (b.1969) studied at Birmingham Conservatoire, The Royal Academy of Music, Dublin Institute of Technology and Queen’s

Aloys Fleischmann was born in Munich to Irish-based German parents.

Philip Flood was born in Belfast and, after completing a degree in music at Queen’s University, moved to London in 1986 where he studied with Robert Saxton and Simon Emmerson.

Paul Flynn is from Lucan, Co. Dublin. In 2000 he graduated with a BA in music from Trinity College Dublin, specialising in composition with Kevin O’Connell and Donnacha Dennehy.

Born in Belfast, Liam Friel pursued his musical studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and subsequently at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.

Sue Furlong was one of the most important contributors to the Irish choral scene during her lifetime.

An Irish composer is defined as anyone who was born or is permanently resident in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland.
