Seventeen pieces from Grade Two upwards, progressing from the intriguingly titled 'A Dangerous Mission in Space' and ‘Schumannesque Arabesque’ to a more challenging set of six pieces which explore the intervals of the scale.
This lyrical four-movement suite takes its title from Wordsworth’s poem, Ode on Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood: ‘The Rainbow comes and goes, and lovely is the rose…’.
These five short ‘postcards from Sicily’ were written at the request of the German pianist, Gertrud Firnkees. ‘Following a holiday in Taormina’, the composer writes, ‘I attempted to capture some of the warmth and colour of Sicily in musical miniatures.
‘Forgotten Worlds’, the composer writes, ‘was originally written in a version for speaker, flute, cello and piano as part of a set using texts by the Galway-based poet, Moya Cannon.
