West Cork Chamber Music Festival 2022: Crespo Series featuring music by Cleare, Buckley, O Halpin, Gribbin & Deane
St. Brendan’s Hall

Crash Ensemble perform a programme of works by composers from Ireland.
Ann Cleare's Fiáin (Irish for wild and tempestuous) was dedicated to Crash in celebration of their 20th birthday wishing them many more wild years. Linda Buckley’s Chrysalism is the amniotic tranquillity of being indoors during a thunderstorm. Barry O’Halpin’s Lipids is driven by abstract yet very physical imagery, the three instruments, guitar, clarinet, cello, chasing each other’s tails. Gribbin’s Provoked City (bass, cello) is a reaction to the altered fabric of a great city in the grip of the pandemic. Deane’s Quadripartita is a string quartet with second violin replaced by bass, a line-up not unnaturally favoured by bassist Malachy Robinson, who commissioned the piece.
