Described as ‘…one of the few contemporary composers whose work genuinely lifts your spirits’, these three works by Hellawell - two concertos and a string quartet - span the 1990s. They are performed by the RTE Vanbrugh String Quartet and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra with solists Clio Gould and Philip Dukes under conductor Martyn Brabbins.

‘Achill Suite’ contains a number of solo piano works by composer/pianist Brent Parker. Taking its inspiration from Achill Island, the title track reflects the many different qualities of the island. Other works performed by the composer on this live album are Spanish Pieces and Hy Breasal Suite.

Contemporary music for choir and organ by Eric Sweeney performed by The Lassus Scholars and Piccolo Lasso under their director, Íte O’Donovan and with the composer as organist. ‘Circle of Light’ spans the past two decades of Sweeney’s output and includes major works such as ‘Le Cercle de Lumiere’, ‘Missa Brevis’ and ‘The Widening Gyre’. The CD was recorded using the restored organs of Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford, in 2003.

Two Irish composers are represented on this CD by Irish pianist Roy Holmes: John Buckley's 'Three Lullabies for Deirdre' and A J Potter's 'Nocturne' in A Minor. Also included are works by Bach, Field, Debussy, Ravel, Granados, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn and Schumann.
