A World Premiere: Messiah Revisited

On the anniversary of the Messiah's first ever performance, artists Adele Johnson (viola), Rory Lynch (tenor) and Eva Zöllner (accordion) present new works by CMC composers Anselm McDonnell, Yue Song and Matthew Whiteside, alongside international contemporaries Diana Čemerytė and Karola Obermüller.

The Messiah by German composer Georg Friedrich Händel was premiered on Fishamble Street in Dublin on 13 April, 1742. For the Messiah Revisited project, the German Embasssy Dublin invited five composers to respond to selected arias and recitatives from The Messiah. Led by the project’s Artistic Director Linda O’Shea Farren, these new works will be performed at the Goethe-Institut Irland on Saturday 13 April.
