Yue Song is a Chinese composer and pianist based in Dublin, Ireland. From 2009 - 2014 she undertook BA Degree studies in Composition at China Conservatory of Music with Professor Wanchuen Shi, in Beijing, China. She subsequently began master’s degree studies in composition at Central Conservatory of Music with Professor Binyang Li in Beijing, China, from 2014 - 2017. In 2018, she moved to Ireland to commence PhD studies under Professor Gráinne Mulvey at TU Dublin Conservatoire, and was awarded her PhD in 2023.

She has composed works in various genres, including opera, orchestra, Chinese orchestra, various chamber music ensembles, solo pieces, and electronic music. Her works have been performed by in Austria, Estonia, Italy, Ireland, and China, by performers and groups including Crash Ensemble, ConTempo Quartet, Concorde Ensemble, Unconventional Orchestra, CCOM Chinese Orchestra, CCOM Contemporary Music Ensemble, Marcella Barz, David Bremner, Elizabeth Hilliard and others. She is currently focusing on collaborative approaches to composition; her aim is to discover each performer's unique characteristics, integrate them into the work, and maximize the individuality of the compositions and performances.  She originally comes from a classical music background, and she is interested in many different styles of music and art forms, especially theater and literature - for this reason, she has always been particularly interested in opera and likes to write her own librettos. 

She has been awarded prizes at various international competitions, such as the ‘World Championship Composition Competition’ (Franz Schubert Conservatory), ‘European Composer Competition’ (Academia Musica, Vienna), ‘Women Composers Competition’ (Fem Festival, Florence), and ‘China Chamber Opera Composition Promoting Project Prize’ (CCOM, Beijing). Her works has been published in various mediums by North Bull Records, Crash Records, DVDs released by Central Conservatory of Music and Beijing Dance Academy.

She recently released an album of works for bass clarinet and electronics with performer Marcella Barz on North Bull Records.
