West Cork Chamber Music Festival 2022: Crespo Series - Crash Ensemble featuring works by Jonathan Nangle, Seán Ó Dálaigh & Sam Perkin
St. Brendan’s Hall

Crash Ensemble, Diamanda Dramm.
West Cork Chamber Music Festival welcomes the Irish contemporary music ensemble Crash, who during the pandemic commissioned a large number of very short REACTIONS works by mostly Irish composers. Sam Perkin’s Twin Talk for violin and flute imagines young twins in the process of creating their own secret language. Éna Brennan’s Runaway is for two instruments, electronics and heartbeats. She writes: 'when there were no concerts to go to, no rehearsals, no performances, no events, I ran. To keep myself sane, I ran.' Kevin Terry wrote for a quintet of guitar, percussion, flute, violin and cello to create a shimmering sustained wash at the edge of silence. Seán Ó Dálaigh’s REACTIONS work is a study on communication, distance, intimacy and touch for guitar and percussion. Violinist Diamanda Dramm has written for her own instrument and guitar as a way of shaping her own micropolitical arena of practice. Jonathan Nangle’s This is our home. We live here is for a quintet of violin, viola, cello, bass and percussion.
