IYTC Summer Concert featuring specially commissioned works by Rhona Clarke, Seán Doherty, Áine Mallon & Ultan O'Brien (Dublin)
WML1, Windmill Lane

Sing Ireland is delighted to present the Irish Youth Training Choir, under choir director Patrick Barrett, for the IYTC Summer Concert in Dublin. Taking place in WML1, the concert will include performances of new works by Rhona Clarke, CMC Emerging Composers 2020/21 Áine Mallon & Ultan O' Brien, and Seán Doherty. The new works by Áine Mallon and Ultan O' Brien were co-commissioned by Sing Ireland and the Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland, as part of the CMC Emerging Composers Programme 2020-21.
The Irish Youth Training Choir provides enthusiastic young singers, aged 14-17 from across Ireland, the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of group singing each year. In 2022 the singers participated in a residential in Dublin in April and this concert will mark the closing of their summer residential at the University of Limerick. Singers learn a wide variety of music and develop their vocal technique under the guidance of the choir’s principal conductor, Patrick Barrett, and a team of leading professional musicians. In 2022 the tutors of the choir include Holly Woods, Sarah Keating, Christina Whyte, Margaret O'Shea, Rory Lynch, Shane Barriscale, Robbie Pender and Daniel Beuster. As a member of IYTC, singers enjoy singing alongside like-minded musicians, and make friends for life!
