This fourth album of test pieces was specially commissioned by RTE Lyric FM for the 2003 AXA Dublin International Piano Competition as part of an ongoing collaboration with the Contemporary Music Centre. The works range from Frank Corcoran’s energetic Sweeney’s Total Rondo to the evocative sounds and historical connotations of Michael Holohan’s Monaincha. Verschwindend by Ian Wilson is detailed and rhythmic in contrast to the poetry and pianism of In a Thousand Valleys Far and Wide by Philip Martin.
