Ireland Promoting New Music presents New Sound Worlds 2010.
New Sound Worlds series, curated by the composer Siobhán Cleary, will feature 4 concerts this winter commencing with a concert by the distinguished Vanbrugh Quartet who will perform works by Donnacha Dennehy, Ian Wilson, Lera Auerbach and David Cox. The series continues with the spectacular film, Ludwig Van, Mauricio Kagel’s surrealist homage to Beethoven. Storyteller, Nuala Hayes will join clarinetist Paul Roe in the first ever performance of a translation of Tom Johnson’s “BedTime Stories” into Irish. This concert will also include a performance of Stain Boy, Voodoo Girl and The Girl Who Turned Into a Bed with words by film director Tim Burton and music by Irish composer Christopher Norby. The brilliant young ‘cellist Kate Ellis concludes the series with interpretations of works by Kevin O’ Connell, David Fennessey and Niall Vallely along with Peter Vasks “Das Buch”, George Crumb's Sonata for Solo Violoncello and the Irish premiere of the world to come by David Lang. All performances take place in the Kevin Barry Room at The National Concert Hall
