Ian Wilson’s music has been performed and broadcast on six continents by artists such as the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Ulster Orchestra, the Belgrade Philharmonic, the London Mozart Players, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the Argento, Lontano and CHROMA Ensembles, the Artis, Vogler and Endellion Quartets, Catherine Leonard, and Hugh Tinney. Works have been performed at many festivals including the BBC Proms, Venice Biennale, ISCM World Music Days, the Brighton, Cheltenham and Bath festivals and the Ultima festival in Oslo, where ‘Running, Thinking, Finding’ received the composition prize in 1991.

In 1992 Ian Wilson was awarded the Macaulay Fellowship administered by the Arts Council of Ireland. He was elected to Aosdána, Ireland’s state-sponsored academy of creative artists, in 1998 and was AHRB Research Fellow in Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Ulster between 2000 and 2003. He has been director of the Sligo New Music Festival since 2003 and from 2006-2009 is composer-in-association with California’s Camerata Pacifica ensemble. Recordings of his music have been released on the Black Box, Riverrun, Chandos, Timbre, Guild, Erasmus and Silva Screen labels. His music is published by Ricordi London and Universal Edition.
