On Sunday, September 19th at 7pm Ears Wide Open presents Trans-Atlantic  Connections:Triple Bill @ Baryshnikov Arts Center 450 W. 37th St.New York, NY. This triple bill features New York based Irish pianist Isabelle O'Connell , electric bassist / guitarist and composer Simon Jermyn and Ned Rothenberg and the MIVOS Quartet.

Trans –Atlantic  Connections  presents three musical sets of composed and improvised music from both sides of the Atlantic. Featuring musicians from Ireland and the U.S. the concert is designed to create a cross-cultural dialogue through musical collaboration and also to highlight two often internationally neglected aspects of Irish music - namely contemporary Irish composers and improvised music.

Isabelle O'Connell will perform works featured on her new CD RESERVOIR by Irish composers Seoirse Bodley, Jennifer Walshe, Donnacha Dennehy, Ian Wilson and others.  Bassist/guitarist Simon Jermyn will play an improvised set, including a collaboration with multi-reed master Ned Rothenberg.  Also featured on the program will be Rothenberg's Clarinet Quintet with the MIVOS Quartet.

Ears Wide Open aims to bring together musicians from diverse musical traditions in an effort to create a cross-cultural dialogue through musical collaboration.

This concert is funded in part by Culture Ireland.
