Beethoven: String Quartet No. 13 in B flat Major, Op. 130
This programme showcases one of Ireland's most exciting new creative talents, Cork-based Sam Perkin. His recent work for orchestra and percussionist, Waves (originally titled 365 Variations on a Gesture) received standing ovations at its premiere and features sensational young Irish percussionist Alex Petcu-Colan, for whom it was written. Completing the programme is a rare orchestral performance of Beethoven’s transcendent String Quartet in B flat, Op. 130. In its great slow movement, space and time seem to suspend.
