CMC will host a music and public art information day
The information day will take place on 2 November 2010 in CMC and is a joint venture between the Dublin City Public Art Programme and CMC and is the first in a series of information days which CMC is organising. The day is open to all interested composers, musicians and those interested in music and public art projects.
Composers and Musicians who have successfully worked on public art projects in different parts of the country will talk about their experiences and there will be advice on navigating your way through an application. Presenters will include composers Elaine Agnew, Daniel Figgis and conductor Fergus Sheil. Ruairí Ó Cuív, Dublin City Council Public Art Manager, will talk about the Dublin City Council Public Art Programme. Sarah Searson and Clíodhna Shaffrey will give a presentation on the practicalities of public art including drawing up project briefs and proposals.
Public Art commissions and Percent for Art schemes provide unique opportunities to work in different ways with communities and places of interest and are increasingly a means by which artists can generate income. At a time when other sources of funding and income are limited, this is an area in which all composers and musicians should be informed.
The information day takes place from 9.30am to 3.30pm at the Contemporary Music Centre. Admission to the day is free, but places are limited and should be booked in advance. For further information, please contact Karen Hennessy, CMC Promotion Manager.
