New opera by Ian Wilson to receive premiere in Germany

Ian Wilson

A new opera by Ian Wilson will receive it's premiere at a theatre in Germany. Minsk is Wilson's second chamber opera and will be directed by Christian Marten-Molnar, the director of his first opera from 2003, Hamelin.

Minsk is a one-act opera in seven scenes, with a libretto by English writer Lavinia Greenlaw (who also collaborated with Wilson on his first opera), exploring nostalgia and impossible escape from the past. The opera will receive a full production at the Theater Heilbronn, performed by the Wurttemberg Chamber Orchestra, conductor Ruben Gazarian with Johanna Greulich, Ksenija Lukic and Niklas Romer in the three principal roles.

The premiere takes place on 3 March at 7.30pm, with subsequent performances on Wednesday 6, Thursday 21 and Friday 22.

Further information on the production is available in German here.
