Sparky Conversations: Artist and Activist
CMC’s artist-led discussion series Sparky Conversations returns for a fifth season, with a new focus on the connections between Artist and Activist.
Recognising artists as creative thinkers and changemakers, and art itself as a catalyst for action, CMC invites composers, musicians and makers to explore how their work engages with the critical issues affecting our communities, and our world.
Launching the series on Friday 7 February at 12 noon, CMC Composer Judith Ring leads a discussion on navigating the climate crisis as an artist:
Given the current state of climate change it can be difficult to justify certain travels, materials and even events as a working composer and musician. What should we be aware of or think about before we embark upon our journeys and creative endeavours?
As always, all are welcome, and active participation is encouraged. This season, conversations will begin with an open forum for audience questions and ideas, followed by a more structured presentation from the artist/initiator. Discussions are delivered online via Zoom, with closed captions available. If you have specific access needs to join, please let us know when registering for the event.
