Concorde perform at the Hugh Lane Gallery on 11 November

Concorde

The ensemble continues its successful ‘Up Close with Music’ series on Sunday, 11 November at Dublin City Gallery: The Hugh Lane with a performance of works commissioned to celebrate 35 years of performing and promoting new music.

The six new works were premiered in six events over the past year and will be presented together at the concert. Composers Dave Fennessy, Raymond Deane, Elaine Agnew, Jane O’Leary, Rhona Clarke and Dave Flynn will be represented with an exciting and diverse range of pieces for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and accordion.

These new works will be released on CD later in the year to coincide with a new series of concerts starting in January 2013. Concorde’s ‘Up Close with Music’ series is supported by an Arts Council Project Award and performances have taken place in the Rubicon Gallery, the Contemporary Music Centre and the Gallery of Photography. The season has featured commissioned works alongside past repertoire and contributions from Irish and international composers. Two of the compositions, by Rhona Clarke and Jane O’Leary, were also performed earlier this year in Chicago in partnership with the organization ACM.

‘Up Close with Music’ takes place at 12:00pm on Sunday, 11 November at Dublin City Gallery: The Hugh Lane. Admission is free.
