Culture Night 2009: InterPlay II
Short video documentary on CMC's Culture Night event held on Friday 25 September 2009, featuring interviews with composers Jonathan Nangle, Brian Bridges and Brian Solon.
The Contemporary Music Centre participated in the annual Culture Night event, held in Dublin and in cities across Ireland, on 25 September 2009. The event, which was coordinated by Temple Bar Cultural Trust, involved over 100 of the city's arts and cultural organisations programming a range of events and activities between 6:00 pm and 12:00 am on the night.
Under the title InterPlay II, CMC presented two specially commissioned sound installations from composersJonathan Nangle and Brian Bridges, with Brian Solon as Production Manager for the event.
Touch Music by Jonathan Nangle allowed visitors to use iPhone and iPod Touch technology to interact with electronic music and lighting design. In the Centre's outdoor courtyard, Brian Bridges' created Spectral Space, a multi-speaker outdoor sound installation whose slowly evolving microtonal drones were diffused through a number of speakers sited around the space.
With some 800 people visiting CMC on the night, both installations proved very popular and enabled visitors to experience a whole new approach to sound and music in a very immediate way.
Video filmed and produced by StudioSix, Tipperary Institute.
