Sundays at Noon: CONCORDE 50th Anniversary Performance

14 September 2025 12:00

Dublin City Gallery, The Hugh Lane

Image: The Eve of St Agnes (detail) - Harry Clarke.

Concorde contemporary music ensemble celebrate 50 years of performances in the Hugh Lane Gallery with the world premiere of a new work commissioned by the Gallery from Concorde’s director Jane O’Leary. Inspired by the Harry Clarke windows, ’The Eve of St. Agnes’, purchased by the Gallery in 1978 - the same year that Concorde began performing there - Jane’s music celebrates the fantasy and magical colours of the artwork. Clarke's magnificent stained glass can be seen at the entrance to the Sculpture Hall.

The programme features music by Irish composers Judith Ring and Dave Fennessy - who share a 50th birthday year with Concorde - and takes a look back at Concorde’s history, with music by Irish composer James Wilson and American Elliott Carter, both regularly performed by Concorde, and includes the Preludes of American composer John Harbison which opened their first concert in 1976.
