National Symphony Chorus Ireland: 40th Anniversary with NSOI
Main Stage, National Concert Hall

The National Symphony Chorus Ireland celebrates its 40th anniversary in the company of National Symphony Orchestra Ireland with choral music to soothe the heart and stir the soul. Long-standing National Symphony Chorus friend, Gerhard Markson, returns to conduct Wagner’s great choral hymn from Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Bruckner’s monumental Te Deum, performed in the choir’s first concert in 1985, and the world premiere of Rhona Clarke’s Points of Light inspired by nature and the light of sun, moon and stars.
Soloists for the Te Deum are ‘tour de force’ (The i Paper) soprano Ailish Tynan, the ‘utterly entrancing’ (BBC Music) mezzo-soprano, Anna Stéphany, ‘ringing tenor’ (Operabase) Sunnyboy Dladla, and ‘rising young baritone’ (The Times) James Atkinson.
Orchestral interludes include Wagner’s majestic and festive Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, the exhilarating Allegro vivace finale from Schubert’s Great Ninth Symphony, and Brahms’s boisterous salute to student life, the Academic Festival Overture.
Presented by NCH.
