West Cork Chamber Music Festival 2025: Tchalik Quartet/Ardeo Quartet. Featuring 30th Anniversary Commission by Sam Perkin
Bantry House

We open our ten day celebration of chamber music with a World Premiere by Cork composer, Sam Perkin, to mark the occasion of our 30th Festival. The composer promises his new quartet will be dazzling, celebratory and fun. The Ukrainian-French Tchalik Quartet will do the honours. The Tchalik is a family Quartet, two brothers and two sisters. To follow they will play Boris Lyatoshynsky’s gorgeous Second Quartet dating from 1922 during Ukraine’s short-lived cultural flowering before the Soviets took over. The multi-national Ardeo Quartet will commence their return visit to Bantry with the second of Beethoven’s three quartets commissioned by Count Razumovsky, Russian Ambassador to the Hapsburg Court, who had his own in-palace string quartet.
This concert will be broadcast as part of RTÉ lyric LIVE presented by Paul Herriott on RTÉ lyric fm.
