Sing Ireland presents: Celebrating 10 Years of the Irish Youth Choir (14-17)

27 June 2025 20:00

Christ Church Cathedral

The Irish Youth Choir conducted by Patrick Barrett.

The Irish Youth Training Choir is celebrating 10 years! Now known as the Irish Youth Choir 14-17 year olds, this talented group will sing a selection of favourites from down through the years, including 2 new commissions in this promised-to-be unforgettable concert. Join in the celebrations on the 27th June at Christ Church Cathedral, 8pm for a concert not to be missed!

This year’s milestone will be marked by a week-long residential course at the University of Limerick culminating in the Dublin Concert that blends the choir’s most beloved pieces from the past decade with two newly commissioned works which reflects the Choir and Sing Ireland’s ongoing commitment to performing new Irish choral music.

This year’s commissions 'The Song That Never Ends' a powerful new collaboration between poet and performing artist Samuel Yakura and CMC composer Seán Doherty, and 'Tectonic', an evocative new piece by CMC emerging composer Tadhg Kinsella, presented in collaboration with the Contemporary Music Centre.

The programme will also include past favourites such as 'To the Mothers in Brazil' (Gunnar Eriksson), 'Rain' (Sunday Service), 'It Matters' (Rhona Clarke), and 'Singkap Siaga' (Tracy Wong),

With a focus on belonging, collaboration, and creativity, this concert performance is a celebration not just of the music, but of the many friendships, moments, and memories made over the last ten years.

Proudly managed and overseen by Sing Ireland and supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and Aeolus Engine Services.
