NCH Summer Lunchtime with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra

The RTÉ Concert Orchestra are joined by Hannah Miller (Principal Horn with the Irish National Opera) for Anne Dudley’s Horn Concerto, Concitato.

Anne Dudley is a musician, composer, arranger and producer, whose work crosses the pop and classical worlds. This programme also feature’s Dudley’s Decadence Waltz, written for the BBC Singers Centenary Concert, and a movie music medley including Midnight in Sicily from Midnight Cowboy. A soundtrack expert, she has composed and produced scores for dozens of award-winning films and television shows.

Other female composers whose works feature in this special lunchtime concert include Rachel Portman (b.1960), the first female composer to win an Academy Award for the Best Original Score, and Debbie Wiseman, OBE.

Dynamic and cinematic pieces in this programme include The Wild Geese, composed by Ina Boyle (1889–1967), Northern Lights tribute Calling the Aurora by Christine Hals (featured soloist in Disney’s Frozen) and the kaleidoscopic Argentum by Dani Howard (b.1993).
