Irish Chamber Orchestra: The Stones of Life (Limerick/Dublin)

9 February 2024 19:30 - 10 February 2024 19:30

The Irish Chamber Orchestra featuring Sharon Carty (mezzo soprano), conducted by Killian Farrell.

What is structure without soul? Prokofiev’s sparkling first symphony plays with form, riffing on the old while playing with the new. And Mozart’s Jupiter is nothing less than a knock-you-off-your-feet perfect classical symphony – with all the awe-inspiring splendour you could want. But it’s Mahler’s big, gorgeous sigh of grief and loss that gives this programme its pulse, and CMC Composer Deirdre Gribbin’s Stones of Life is the beating heart of this whole bold, beautiful night.

Presented by Irish Chamber Orchestra.

Prokofiev - Symphony No. 1 in D major Classical, Op. 25

Deirdre Gribbin - The Stones of Life
