Sparky Conversations #17: 'Lines and Spaces' with Rhona Clarke and Marie Hanlon

6 December 2024 12:00

For Sparky Conversations #17, artist Marie Hanlon and composer Rhona Clarke will talk about collaborating across disciplines, finding the connecting lines and shared spaces between music, imagery, sound and movement.

Marie Hanlon and Rhona Clarke have been making interdisciplinary work since 2009. Their joint exhibitions include – The 8th Burren Annual, Burren College of Art, (2011); DICTAT, Draoícht (2014); and LAST ACT, Limerick City Gallery (2024). They have also collaborated on many individual works for concert and gallery events. Their growing body of work comprises video and sculptural installation. In exploring possible approaches and outcomes when combining these two disciplines, music in various forms has been drawn upon: choral, electronic, percussion, string quartet and solo guitar. The use of live music, recorded music and sound as installation have also featured in their work.
