Isabelle O'Connell: Cocteau, a world premiere by Rhona Clarke

16 October 2023 19:30

Centre Culturel Irlandais

Following her 2018 residency at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, the CCI welcomes back internationally renowned Dublin pianist and performer Isabelle O'Connell. The programme for this recital is based around the French writer, draughtsman and film-maker Jean Cocteau, and presents the world premiere of a new 20-minute work by CMC composer Rhona Clarke, inspired by the work and sketches of this 'jack-of-all-trades' genius. This piece was composed last year especially for O’Connell, developed by the composer and performer as part of CMC's Contemporary Artists Network, an initiative which facilitates New Music collaborations.

Music by Cocteau’s associates will also feature, including that of ‘Les Six’ (Satie, Poulenc, Milhaud, Honegger & Tailleferre) and his other major collaborator, Stravinsky.

The Irish premiere of Cocteau will be presented at Sundays at Noon on 22 October.
