Fidelio Trio Winter Chamber Music Festival featuring world premieres of works by Áine Mallon, Deirdre McKay & Ed Bennett
Belvedere House, St. Patrick’s College

Fidelio Trio return to Belvedere House for the 10th anniversary of the Winter Chamber Music Festival from 25th to 27th November, with four concerts featuring works from across the globe.
As in previous years, GlasDrum have commissioned new works for the festival that will receive their world premieres on Friday 25th November in The Poet Sings. Taking inspiration from poetry by Thomas Kinsella and Seamus Heaney, and artwork displayed in Belvedere House, Áine Mallon and Deirdre McKay have created two new works for voice and piano trio. Fidelio Trio will be joined by the award-winning Irish soprano, Daire Halpin, for this landmark event. The evening will also feature music by Frank Martin and E. J. Moeran.
On Saturday 26th November we move to the National Botanic Gardens for our free lunchtime concert, From Beethoven to Bennett. This free event includes the world premiere of Ed Bennett's new work for solo violin and electronics, which promises to be an electrifying listen. We are also thrilled to welcome the violinist Mollie Wrafter, who will join Darragh Morgan (violin), Tim Gill (cello) and Reiad Chibah (viola) for Beethoven's String Quartet in C minor Op. 18, No. 4 to close the concert.
Our Saturday evening concert takes place at Belvedere House, where Fidelio Trio will by joined once more by the violist Reiad Chibah. Across Time and Space takes us on a journey from France, with Ravel's Sonata for Violin and Cello, to the USA, with Amy Beach's Piano Trio, Op. 150. In the second half, Tunde Jegede's Songs of the Eternal offers a contemporary synthesis of classical, jazz and traditional African music before we are transported back in time to 1891 for Josef Suk's Piano Quartet in A Minor.
On Sunday 27th November Fidelio Trio bring the festival to a close with Bohemia, featuring music by three celebrated Czech composers: Martinů, Janáček and Dvořák. An arrangement of Janáček's popular 'Kreutzer Sonata' is the centrepiece of this wonderful concert.
