Benyounes Quartet presented by Moving on Music, featuring world premiere of a work by Deirdre Gribbin
The MAC (Metropolitan Arts Centre)
Derry cellist Kim Vaughan returns to Northern Ireland once again with her string quartet, the international prize-winning Benyounes Quartet.
Continuing a long-standing collaboration with brilliantly innovative Belfast-born composer Deirdre Gribbin, The Benyounes will present a world premiere of a brand-new work. Gribbin’s music has been described as “pure magic…gripping.” (The Times).
Alongside Gribbin’s piece, the quartet will perform two masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire: Beethoven’s youthful and sparkling op.18 no.6 quartet; and the dark, brooding C minor quartet by Brahms.
The evening will feature a CMC Composer's Voice event with the composer Deirdre Gribbin in conversation with Evonne Ferguson, Director of the Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland.
This promises to be an exciting and memorable night of music. Come along!
