Chamber Music on Valentia 2022: They Danced When the Musicians Played, featuring music by Irene Buckley, Linda Buckley, David Fennessy & Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin

Innovative musicians ‘…the virtuosic Fidelio Trio…’ Sunday Times, and traditional musician Cillian Vallely of Lúnasa renown, collaborate in a unique new set of works for uilleann pipes, violin, cello and piano.
With roots in Irish traditional music these new works are vivid musical evocations inspired by portraits of traditional musicians by iconic artist John B. Vallely.
Irish composers who have specially created new music for this include;
Linda Buckley, Irene Buckley, Rose Connolly, Niall Vallely, Neil Martin
The programme also features David Fennessy’s ‘The blue-eyed lassie’ from his recent Fidelio Trio commission and two works by the late Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin specially dedicated to the trio; (must be more) Crispy! (Ó Súilleabháin/Mercier) and Fidelio Unsung.
The concert is bookended with a special arrangement of the Blasket Islands’ slow air 'Port na bPúcaí’ for this ensemble.
