Leading international chamber musicians, the Fidelio Trio, perform world and UK premieres by four leading composers.
Ann Cleare’s 93 million miles away is inspired by NASA’s controversial estimation of the distance between the sun and the earth and uses sounds created inside the piano alongside atmospheric strings. Christopher Fox’s world premiere This is the wind comes from R.S. Thomas’ bleak poem Depopulation of the Hills. Luke Styles takes inspiration from the Australian outback, the red desert and the endless seas that bound Australia’s shores for Memories of a Foreign Land Called Home. Canadian Linda Catlin Smith’s evocative Far from Shore was commissioned by the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in 2017.
