The Contemporary Music Centre Salon Series 2016: Dublin Sound Lab

29 September 2016 20:00

St Audoen’s Church

After a summer break, The Contemporary Music Centre continues its 2016 Salon Series with Dublin Sound Lab in the beautiful and recently renovated St Audoen's Church.

Dublin Sound Lab is a contemporary music ensemble formed by Michael Quinn (organ) and Fergal Dowling (electronics), specialising in electronic and computer mediated concert performance. As well as presenting existing works, the duo initiate collaborations and use computer based techniques to explore relationships between compositional process and performance practice, and to create new and engaging concert experiences.

Their programme is an exciting mix of new electronic works from Irish composers, and features Gráinne Mulvey's 'Streetorgsounds' for fixed media and organ, a piece commissioned for Dublin Sound Lab in 2012 which has enjoyed numerous repeat performances throughout Ireland.

Programme

David Bremner: Interior Designs (organ and fixed media)
Fergal Dowling: Grounds (organ, fixed media and computer)
Grainne Mulvey: Streetorgsounds (organ and fixed media)

Composers featured will be present to talk about their work and the salon is hosted by CMC Salon Series curator and composer Linda Buckley.

Admission is free but booking is recommended. For further information or to book contact sford@cmc.ie
