Christopher McAteer

Christopher McAteer (b.1988) is a composer from the north coast of Northern Ireland. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, his work has been performed across the UK and Ireland, receiving awards including the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize (2013) and West Cork Festival Composition Bursary (2014). During 2017/18 he was a Moving on Music Emerging Artist. His music is represented by the Contemporary Music Centre in Dublin.
 
Since September 2018, Christopher has been pursuing a PhD in Social and Political Thought at York University, Toronto. His research focuses on artistic/political imaginaries of the Canadian Arctic and the aesthetics of wilderness. He is continuing to pursue composition opportunities in both Toronto and on the island of Ireland.
