Christopher McAteer

Christopher McAteer (b.1988) is a composer and academic from the north coast of Ireland. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, his work has been performed across the UK, Ireland, and Canada, receiving awards including the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize (2013) and West Cork Festival Composition Bursary (2014). He received significant funding from Arts Council Ireland during 2015 for the composition of an opera about the Irish revolutionary Roger Casement. During 2017/18 he was a Moving on Music Emerging Artist.

Currently based in Toronto, Christopher is a PhD candidate in Social and Political Thought at York University, Canada. His dissertation project examines the complexity of time in the world politics of climate change. He is continuing to pursue composition opportunities in both Canada and Ireland.
