OpusHER | Empowering Emerging Female Composers
EMPOWER: Women Changing Music are delighted to launch the second year of the OpusHER Award, created to spotlight, celebrate, and support emerging female composers, while expanding the contemporary repertoire for wind instruments, in partnership with ABRSM.
Launched in 2024, this award offers female composers aged 18+ the opportunity to create a new work for the EMPOWER 2026 tour, celebrating Women’s History Month.
Applications are now open to propose a new work for flute, oboe, violin, viola, and cello.
The award includes:
- £750 prize
- Mentoring with a team of esteemed female composers
- Publication of the piece
- Workshopping with the performers
- Premiere and performances at all five EMPOWER 2026 events across the UK and Ireland
