World Choral Conducting Network in association with Dublin City University present Dublin Choral Conducting and Composition Masterclasses with New Dublin Voices, August 30 – September 1, 2024 at Dublin City University, All Hallows Campus.

Choral Conducting Masterclasses
For conductors wishing to develop their technique, musicianship, interpretation.
Three levels: foundation, intermediate, advanced.
Conductors will conduct their peers, a pianist, and New Dublin Voices.

Choral Composition Masterclass
For composers who wish to develop their artistic practice. Suitable for those with some experience in choral composition and facility in notation software. Composers will workshop their draft piece with a conductor, pianist, and singers.
How to Apply (see link below for online form)
The course directors will assess applications, and applicants will be contacted within three days of receipt of application. If accepted, a deposit of €100 is requested immediately. The balance will be due by July 31 via Eventbrite.
Cancellation: 4 weeks before event: 100% refund; 3 weeks: 50%; 2 weeks: 25%; 1 week: 0%
Level Descriptors
FOUNDATION
For establishing the fundamentals of conducting technique
For those with some qualification or background in music who may have elementary conducting experience
Material is primarily canons, rounds and simple 2-part songs
INTERMEDIATE
For conductors with good musicianship skills and experience working with choirs and/or who have had previous tuition in conducting
Increased attention to style, interpretation and rehearsal technique
Participants need to familiarise themselves with the set pieces prior to the course
ADVANCED
For conductors with considerable experience, excellent musicianship skills, good vocal technique and rehearsal technique, who have already studied conducting to a high level
Participants are expected to be fully familiar with all set pieces
