Call for projects: Montreal/New Musics (MNM) International festival

Deadline: 4 December 2023 12:00

Call for projects for the festival Montreal/New Musics 2025 with the theme « music and images »

The Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ) is launching a call for projects for the 12th edition of the Montreal/New Musics (MNM)  International festival, to be held from February 20 to March 2, 2025 with the theme "Music and Images".

The call for projects is open to all individuals and organizations in music, as well as those in other disciplines working with music and image. We want to encourage collaborative projects between composers and/or musicians and artists from other disciplines, including but not restricted to film, visual arts and digital arts.
Particular attention will be paid to projects by musicians, artists and organizations from diversity or indigenous communities.
The projects we are looking for explore various forms of interaction and/or collaboration between music and different types of images such as still (photography, painting, or other visual arts practices), moving (film, video games, animation, art or experimental video) or other (architecture, digital and technological arts, etc.).

Each proposal must include a plan for a complete concert or event with a full programme. The maximum duration of the concert or event is 60 minutes, without an intermission.

Projects will be selected on merit by a committee of peers chosen by the SMCQ on the basis of relevance to the theme, artistic originality, concern for current social issues, profile of collaborators, technical feasibility and budgetary realism.

To submit a project, please fill in the form below and provide technical, budgetary and other information. You may also attach text and multimedia documents to support your proposal.

The results of the selection process will be communicated to participants approximately three months after the project submission deadline.
