Violinist Ioana Petcu-Colan performs at Moving On Music and Belfast Music Society’s ‘Night Music’ series

The solo recital, which takes place on 2 April at the MAC, Belfast, features J.S. Bach’s Partita No. 2 with specially composed interludes by Simon O’Connor, Andrew Hamilton, Benedict Schlepper-Connolly and Garrett Sholdice.

The programme was curated by Ergodos co-directors Schlepper-Connolly and Sholdice, and originally premiered in an Ergodos production in January 2013.

An Irish violinist of Romanian origin, Ioana Petcu-Colan is one of Ireland’s finest musicians. She is currently a member of Ensemble Avalon and associate leader of the Ulster Orchestra.

Night Music is a monthly series at the MAC, Belfast featuring top Irish and Northern Irish musicians performing in an informal setting.

Prior to the performance at 9pm, CMC hosts a pre-concert discussion with the featured composers as part of its Resonating Now: New Music Voices programme. Wine and tapas will also be served.
