CMC Award Winners Announced at Féile Luimní Festival
The Féile Luimní instrumental competitions took place in Corbally, Limerick on the 26-29 January 2017.
The competitions covered a diverse range of instrumental and vocal repertoire from beginners to advanced levels. CMC is pleased to announce it sponsored the contemporary music category competitions at this year's festival, with a €100 CMC voucher for the winner of the advanced and €50 CMC voucher for the winner of the intermediate competitions. The aim of CMC's involvement in this category is to encourage young instrumentalists to perform works by living Irish composers.
Kristina O’Brien won the CMC Advanced Contemporary category, while Chloe Woo was the recipient of the CMC Intermediate Category. Kristina (Recorder) played Gwenny Variations by Philip Martin while Chloe (Piano) also choose a Philip Martin piece titled Gentle Julia.
CMC wishes to extend a warm congratulations to all the students and their teachers who took part in the competition, and well done to the CMC category prizewinners. The standard and diversity of repertoire was exceptional and we encourage music students of all ages to discover the works of living Irish composers.
