Dulciana present a concert of music by female composers

Dulciana is a female-voice choir based in Dublin and directed by composer/singer Eoghan Desmond. Having launched earlier in 2015, they have performed two concerts of mixed repertoire, from early choral music to new pieces written for them.

Their third concert is simply titled ♀, and features a programme of works by female composers. Alongside rarely-played works by English composers Rebecca Clarke and Imogen Holst, the programme includes five works by young Irish composers, specially written for the event. The composers and works featured are Éna Brennan's Trip, based on a text written by the composer herself; Siobhra Quinlan's January, written to commemorate the passing of her grandfather; Raeghnya Zutshi's Ahtunowhiho, based on Native American marine legends; Sherry Hazlett's setting of a biblical text in Passion Laughs and the Terrors of Hell; and Anna Clifford's 'celestial' work Moon Song, which will open the concert.

♀ takes place 9 Nov at 8pm at Freemasons' Hall in Dublin. Tickets cost €10/5 and are available from https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/dulciana-presents-tickets-19242752591
