New music group Decibel give concerts in Belfast and Birmingham featuring music by Ed Bennett
The 10-piece group, led by composer Ed Bennett, will perform a portrait concert of the London-based composer's music on 7 November at Moving on Music's Tempered weekend of new music in Belfast, and on 10 November in Birmingham as part of the Frontiers series.
The programme for both concerts includes a new large-scale work specially written for the ensemble, Togetherness, alongside a number of works written in the past 5 years.
Recently described by the Guardian as an ensemble performing “Unclassifiable, raw-nerve music of huge energy and imagination”, Decibel has performed in concert halls, libraries, fields, sculptures, schools and art galleries throughout the UK and Ireland to great acclaim since its first concert in Belfast in 2003.
More on the performances here and here.
Listen to an interview with Ed Bennett about the new piece and his work with the ensemble, recorded via Skype.
