"This piece has a lot to do with eyes. The saxophone should be thought of as a dragonfly with eyes so big they cover almost its entire head, giving it a helmeted appearance and a full 360- degree field of vision."

Frank Corcoran (1944-) Rhapsodietta Joyceana
To be premiered by Martin Johnston (vc) on 26 November 2015 in the James Joyce Centre, Dublin.

Eibhlís Farrell (1962-) O Caro m'e il Sonno

"Throughout the troubled production of Fitzcarraldo (1982), a film about a rubber baron who strives to build an opera house deep in the Peruvian jungle, the German filmmaker Werner Herzog kept vivid and shocking diaries which he published years later as the book Conquest of the Useless. I have become somewhat obsessed with these surreal diaries recently and have begun work on a series of pieces which draw on different themes contained therein."

Stephen Gardner (1958-) The Spire
Premiered by New Dublin Voices, conductor Bernie Sherlock on 12 September 2015 at the GPO, Dublin.
Text by Pat Boran.
This work was premiered at a series of pop-up performances on 12 September at the GPO and at Dublin City Gallery, the Hugh Lane.

Vincent Kennedy (1962-) Our Time

Premiered by Choir of Moate Community College, Giselle Foley (pf), conductor Lorna Duignan on 18 September 2015. Mullingar Arts Centre, Co. Westmeath.

Eoin O’Keeffe (1979-) Sea Rising

Sam Perkin (1985-) Nesting Doll
Premiered by Finghin Collins (pf) on 26 September 2015 at the New Ross Piano Festival, St. Mary's Church, New Ross, Co. Wexford.
Inspired by The Ros Tapestry No.8 "The Marriage of William Marshal and Isabel de Clare"
After a long time with this particular tapestry, one starts to notice the deeper themes hidden within. For me, the most striking aspect of the tapestry is the manner in which it perfectly conveys the themes of lineage, ancestry, expectation, time and change.

Eric Sweeney (1948-) The Invader
Premiered by Telman Guzevsky, Joe Corbett, Natasha Jouhl, Alison Browner, ensemble led by the RTÉ ConTempo Quartet, Musical Director Eric Sweeney, director Ben Barnes on 23 May 2014 at the Theatre Royal, Waterford.
