Library Update for March and April 2015

This update from the library features some of the works added to its collection during a two month period. In March and April, works from 22 different composers were added to the CMC online library catalogue. Selected works include:

Elaine Agnew (1967-) Everyone Sang
Commissioned by RTÉ for the RTÉ Philharmonic Choir and the RTÉ NSO on the occasion of the Philharmonic Choir's 30th Anniversary.
Premiered by RTÉ Philharmonic Choir and RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra with chorus master Mark Hindley and conductor Andrew Litton on 9 January 2015 at the National Concert Hall, Dublin.

Linda Buckley (1979-) Torann
Commissioned by The Cork Midsummer Festival with funds kindly provided by the Arts Council of Ireland.
Premiered by Crash Ensemble on 7 March 2015 at What?...Wow: David Lang’s Festival of Music, National Concert Hall, Dublin.

Donnacha Dennehy (1970-) One Hundred Goodbyes
Commissioned by Kronos Quartet with funding provided by the Arts Council of Ireland.
Premiered by Kronos Quartet on 28 February 2012 at Carnegie Hall, New York.

Amanda Feery (1984-) On Shuffle
Premiered by Crash Ensemble on 2 April 2015 at Crash Ensemble: Born in the 80s, Wexford Arts Centre, Wexford.
“Interruptions, imperfections, and glitches carry negative connotations, but in On Shuffle they are celebrated.”

Gráinne Mulvey (1966-) Diffractions
Premiered by RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra with conductor Gavin Maloney on 13 January 2015 at the Horizons Series, National Concert Hall, Dublin.
“Diffractions is part of a series of pieces loosely based on the work of the prominent nineteenth century physicist John Tyndall, a native of my home town of Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow, Ireland.”

Jonathan Nangle (1981-) V-I
Premiered by Crash Ensemble on 2 April 2015 at Crash Ensemble: Born in the 80s, Wexford Arts Centre, Wexford.
“The piece is a continuation of my interest in postcard pieces, that is, a piece for two or more instruments that can sustain itself for at least a minute and can fit on a 6x4 postcard.”

Anne-Marie O’Farrell (1966-) Eden’s Joy
Premiered by Mary Immaculate College Community Choir, Anne-Marie O'Farrell (hrp), conductor Paul Collins on 16 December 2014 at the Chapel of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick.
Composed as part of the AEPE Residency in Composition at MIC in association with the Lime Tree Theatre & funded by the Arts Council.

Garrett Sholdice (1983-) das blaue licht
Premiered by RTÉ ConTempo Quartet on 7 March 2015 at What?...Wow: David Lang’s Festival of Music, National Concert Hall, Dublin.
“The title – which means "the blue light" in German – refers to the bright, clear, luminous blue light of the sky above Berlin in the scorching hot July weeks in which I completed the piece.”
