The final concert in Concorde's 'Up Close with Music' series takes place on 26 April
The concerts at 2.30 and 3.45pm in the RHA Gallery, Dublin features music from Emma O’Halloran and Eric Sweeney, alongside a new work composed by Eoin Mulvany.
The first concert opens with the premiere of Eric Sweeney’s Fanfare Dialogue for flutes, trumpet, clarinets and accordion. Bog Bodies is the title of a new work by Concorde student composer Eoin Mulvany, currently a PhD student at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama. Emma O’Halloran’s 2010 work for clarinet, Truth and Beauty, accompanied by visuals of Dublin Bay by artist Marie Hanlon, forms part of the programme for the second concert.
Featuring Irish music in an international context, the programme also includes the premiere of a specially written piece from British composer Katharine Norman, Chicago-based composer Tim Corpus, and music from Portugal, the USA, and Germany.
Performers are Jane O’Leary, artistic director; Madeleine Staunton, flutes; Paul Roe, clarinets; Martin Johnson, cello; Dermot Dunne, accordion; Paul Kiernan, trumpet – Concorde’s student performer for the season from DIT.
The series is supported by the Arts Council in partnership with the RHA Gallery.
