Crash Ensemble present 'Born in the '80s', a concert of Irish composers' works, in Wexford and Derry

unnamedThe concert features the ensemble performing works by Irish composers born in the 1980s, and takes place at the Wexford Arts Centre on 2 April and on 11 April at St Columb's Hall, Derry as part of the Walled City Music's Spring Series.

Composers featured include Jonathan Nangle and Benedict Schlepper-Connolly, with world premieres by Barry O’Halpin, Amanda Feery and Emma O’Halloran.

From the Crash Ensemble's web site:

From the decade that brought you jelly shoes, Pac-man, Mutant Ninja Turtles and E.T we bring you Ireland’s brightest composing talent.

Ever wondered what it would be like to hear work by a young Beethoven or Philip Glass as it happened?

This is classical music from here and now - from Irish composers in their 20’s and early 30’s. Born in the 80’s features works by Jonathan Nangle, Barry O’Halpin, Ben Schlepper-Connolly, Amanda Feery and Emma O’Halloran.

The ensemble will perform as a quintet (violin, cello, double bass, clarinet, electric guitar), and will repeat the programme at the Dock, Leitrim on 4 September, and on 5 November at the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast in association with Moving on Music.
