Interview with Dave Flynn

Composer Dave Flynn talks to Jonathan Grimes about the upcoming premiere on 24 November 2010 of his new concerto for renowned fiddle player Martin Hayes and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, compositional approaches to working with traditional music and performers, and future projects.

Dave Flynn's Concerto for Traditional Irish Musician and Orchestra, Aontacht (Unity) was specially written for fiddle player, Martin Hayes in 2008.

The work will receive its premiere by Hayes and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra with conductor David Brophy at the National Concert Hall on Wednesday, 24 November 2010. The work will be performed alongside other works by Flynn including a new arrangement of Music for the Departed, a work originally written for Martin Hayes, guitarist Dennis Cahill, and violinist Ioana Petcu-Colan.
