CMC's new music::new Ireland salon series aims to encourage newcomers and enthusiasts alike to engage with the music of Irish Composers. Each performance takes place in an informal atmosphere with dialogue encouraged between composers, performers and audience.
This first Salon of 2011 was curated by the Ergodos music production company and label and featured Cora Venus Lunny (violin), Kate Ellis (cello), David Bremner (piano), and Michelle O'Rourke (mezzo-soprano) performing works by Irish composers Benedict Schlepper Connolly, Garrett Sholdice and Jonathan Nangle. The works performed were written for Ergodos' Ich ruf' zu Dir project, which involved new arrangements of J.S Bach's chorale prelude Ich ruf' zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ, an elegiac harmonisation of a Lutheran hymn tune from Bach's Orgelbüchlein.
CMC's new music::new Ireland Salon took place in the Kevin Barry Room at the National Concert Hall, Dublin on 23 February 2011. Video was by Amanda Feery and lighting by Aedin Cosgrove.
