Upcoming performances of Seán Clancy's music
Birmingham-based composer Seán Clancy is due to have a number of works performed over next few months, a number of which are world premieres.
On the weekend of 1–3 March, the Fidelio Trio with Austrian composer Johannes Maria Staud will workshop a new work for piano trio Red, Blue, Orange, chosen from a call for scores by the CMC in December. The workshop takes place as part of the New Music Dublin Festival.
On 10 March, the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and Thumb, conducted by Dan Watson, will premiere Clancy's Strange to See You Again for solo violin, solo saxophone and ensemble.
Decibel, the ensemble founded and run by Irish composer Ed Bennett, will perform Clancy's I See Now Why People Hide on 11 March in Kings Place, London, and on 12 March in Birmingham Conservatoire.
On 27 April, the Montréal-based Bozzini Quartet will perform a new piece for string quartet in Montreal's Chapelle Historique du Bon-Pasteur. The performance takes place as part of the quartet's 'Composer's Kitchen' workshop, a project which gives 4 composers the opportunity to have their compositions read, played, assessed, and analysed over the course of the week. The works will also be performed at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival later in the year.
